There was a very short period in Mike's life where he thought he could handle his teaching job, write a book, host The Politics Guys, and start a new podcast - Politics Plus. It soon became evident to Mike how insane trying to do all this at once was, and so he quickly shut down Politics Plus. He's served as a speechwriter and special assistant to President George W. Bush and as senior adviser to the Rudy Giuliani presidential campaigns. He's also the author of nine books, most recently Trumpocracy: The Corruption of the American Republic. 0:45.6	You know, I often start off with authors by asking, well, what prompted you to write this book?
0:51.4	Now, in this case, I think that seems pretty obvious. Let me ask you a
0:55.1	different question. Can you explain what Trumpocracy is? For sure. Trumpocracy refers to the system of
1:03.9	power that brought Donald Trump to the presidency, and that sustains him there. There's a lot of
1:09.2	attention to the oversized personality of the president.
1:13.4	I pay less attention to that and more to systems.
1:17.6	How he got there, how he stays there.
1:19.9	After all, so much of what defines both the Constitution and party government
1:24.9	are a series of norm systems institutions designed to screen people like
1:29.9	this away from power. If he got past them, how would he do it?
1:33.6	Right. You know, I wanted to ask you about people. I say people like this, and it occurred to me
1:38.3	when I think about Donald Trump, and I think a lot of people think would say that, well,
