Welcome back for an a Jerry episode 47 special guest today in the building. We've had them on once before twice twice twice twice. That's right twice Third Twice third appearance Dave from dopey Dave. Let's get right into it really quick. I got to say something I just made myself One of the best sandwiches I've ever had and it probably calls in me probably about Less than three dollars Turkey and cheese a little mayonnaise and some a little side of those little tiny pickles. What kind of bread? What regular white bread, regular white bread. It bring it because I say this because it brings me back to the days where I was, you know, struggled and have a lot of money, stuff like that. You have some lunches like that. I'll tell you what, I could do a lunch like that every day a week. I don't know about you. Why was it so satisfying, Jerry? I don't know. It was because it was so cheap and it was so simple, but yet it was so good. Listen, I'm on a little culinary high myself over here. We got, We got this I'm obsessed with thing. We got this air fryer. You got an air fryer? Yes. Yes. Yes. I'm fucking obsessed with the air fryer. You're going to, you're going to make fun of me. Like, uh, there's a Chinese food place where we live. Like, there's a lot of really horrible Chinese food where we live. Like horrible. But there's one spot that's good, really expensive, bougie fucking Asian fusion spot. |
| 3:27.0 | And I buy Biber E. bok toy. Is that like the vegetable, the green thing? Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's good. So I got bok toy and I was like, oh, that's good, whatever, whatever. And I went to the grocery store and I see bok toy, but I've never tried to cook bok toy. And I'm like, you know what? I don't know, maybe I'm gonna try to cook some bok choy. |
| 3:44.5 | So I buy bok choy. |
| 3:46.8 | I come home, I'm like looking at it, thinking, |
| 3:49.2 | I don't know, do I cook the do I do it? And I'm like, fuck it. I'm going to I look up air fryer bok choy. Take the bok choy, cut the ends off, throw it in the air fryer, in the air fryer, little bit of soy sauce, little bit of olive oil, fucking little rice wine vinegar, minced garlic, five minutes at 300. Best thing I've ever made. Really? Best thing, best thing I've ever made. It's just incredible. That's so good, complex flavors. Fucking, it's amazing. And that shit was probably like a dollar. That shit was like fucking a dollar. I'm not nothing. Amazing. It's the little things, Dave. It's a little simple things. What's new with you? How you been? I'm pretty good. I don't like to say I'm so good, but I'm pretty good. I just went to New Orleans. I went to jazz fest. Yeah. What was that about? Tell us about that. Oh my God. We have a show sponsor called The Phoenix and The Phoenix is like a nonprofit that helps addicts and alcoholics by giving them free access to gyms and stuff. And they wanted to get into music. So they did this sober kickoff to jazz fest in New Orleans. And they, I did this event, this podcast, but then I went to jazz fest and they hooked it up. They give me the fuck. I know you're used to being treated well. I am not used to being treated well, Jerry. I don't usually, you know, you go everywhere everyone knows you. You meet the players. You do this. They give me the fucking, the grand Marshall pass. I'm in front of the crowd at Wu Tang knowing every lyric. That's the Robert plant Ed Sheeran Wu Tang. Fucking Steve Miller band Taj Mahal is amazing. And I'm eating fried oyster poe boys and fucking shrimp and grids. See, I know. I love seafood and I've never been to New Orleans and they say they got some excellent scenes. It seems like everything is fried there though. It doesn't seem I couldn't get a vegetable. Like I couldn't find bok toi in fucking New Orleans. There was nothing happening. And I'm not an oyster guy, but a fried oyster in a sandwich was it was remarked. It was incredible. And you would love New Orleans because it's like soulful spot. Sports are big. Food is great. And the weather. It's like LA with soul is New Orleans. Like I would love to definitely check it out. You know, hopefully in the near future. You know, I'm definitely moving out to Chicago next couple of months. But definitely what? You're moving to Chicago? Yeah, yeah, for work. Yeah, for a couple of, for a little while, probably a couple of years, a couple of years, you're moving to Chicago. I can, okay. Congratulations. So what the, that's you. I know I'm going to miss you too. It's what the, the business calls for, you know, so head out there, they built like a new office like a you know it's supposed to be some like dude perfect kind of office where it's like golf simulators, weight room, you know, little, little turf field, full court basketball. So it'd be pretty cool. Right. Yeah, I'm excited. Yeah. So they're sending out a couple guys to relocate out there to kind of, you know, build up the brand out there. So I'm ready. I'm ready to go. That's cool. And our relationship is mostly on the phone anyway. But we have to get a meal. We got to go get a meal before you go. I know. I'm thinking about you just cooking up that bok choy in the air fryer. That's, you know, I don't want to make go crazy, but I have, I have chicken breasts cooking you the air fryer right now. I just wish I had more air fryer. You know what I'm saying? Now I did do now. I did do chicken thighs with the skin on it inside the air fryer a couple of weeks back and it came out great. I'm incredible. It's the greatest invention ever. When I was in New Orleans also, I went to meetings. Like I went to, I went to 12 step meetings. First 12 step meeting I went to is at seven in the morning in a park, right? I walked three months together. Outside, outside? Yeah, outside. It was like gonna rain. I get there. There's one person, there's one person at the meeting. I get there. Another person shows up. Then as we're doing the meeting, a fourth person comes. I swear to God, it was four of us in this park. We shared three times each. That was the meeting. Hey, hey, worked. All right. It was, it was, it was awesome. It just made me realize How devout a recovery person I am, a 12 step person I am. I was, I loved it. I loved it. Hey, we didn't, I thought you were going to start with the crazy tattoo. Oh, that's another thing we got to get to. So, so for people listening, I get this message in a group text yesterday, you know, actually I have a friend of Jerry like chat on Instagram. And this guy is like, you know, sends like a big paragraph. Want to thank me and Dave and the whole dopey community, the friend of Jerry community, you know, for really helping them out. And all of a sudden he sends his long paragraph. And then at the end of it is a picture. And it's the friend of Jerry logo with Dave's logo, the dopey logo on the inside. And I was like, what a world. This is like, this is amazing. That's my second, my second tattoo I've ever seen somebody have on me. Was that your first day? Are you kidding me? There's like 30 dopey tattoos. Oh my God. Really? Are Are you crazy? Yeah. No, no. When I, when I, the thing with the dopey tattoo is like, I don't have any tattoos, but I, I like the idea of dopey tattoos. And, and, and Chris, my, my co-host, my partner, the guy who I started the show with. Yeah. Well, that's another thing. When I was down in New Orleans, right? I met this sick harmonica player who was an addict in recovery and we did this panel. That's, that we did that panel and he was on the panel and I knew he was crazy, like an interesting and a fucked up like crackhead drug addict. And I was, so I recorded with him and we're recording together and he's like, you know, he was, he's bisexual. He talks about some, some gay stuff |
| 10:06.1 | on the show. And then he goes, but I know you're not uncomfortable because you're bisexual too. He says to me. And I said, I said, well, I'm not bisexual. I don't think there's anything wrong with homosexuality, bisexuality, man on man love, whatever you want to call it. I got no problem but I'm not bisexual. I was like, why did you think that? And he goes, he was, oh, you're always |
| 10:26.9 | talking about your partner. And I was like, why did you think that? |
| 10:25.2 | And he goes, he was, oh, you're always talking |
| 10:27.4 | about your partner. |
| 10:29.1 | And I was like, well, my man, my wife never got married. And I guess I called her my partner. And he's like, no, no, no, no, no. He goes, you talked about a male partner. And I said, oh, that was Chris, But we just started dopey together. |
| 10:41.9 | There was no hanky pranky. |
| 10:43.4 | So I want to make sure everyone in friend of Jerry Land |
| 10:45.6 | knows that when I talk about my partner, Chris, |
