In this interview, I sit down the detective retired detective

being Paul he has some great stories he brought some he was able to bring a little

levity to working in the hood. He has some great

opinions on stuff. We do get into a little bit of when he was

investigating sex crimes as a juvenile detective so it gets a little dark but

I'm still very interesting and that's part of police

work things go that way sometimes and he also has some great commentary on what

being a police

and mentally how it makes you look at other people and kind of how the media is affecting that and kind of driving a wedge between the police and the community.

And at the end he rounds it out with some nice advice for young recruits looking to get on the job.

So it was a really great interview, it was really fun. I was really lucky to get them.

So without further ado, episode number eight. Dave, welcome to the podcast. Thank you so much for coming on. Could you just take a second and introduce yourself to the people and let them know where you were police officer and for how long? Oh yeah, my name is Dave Ball and I was a police officer in Hawthorne, California, 28 and a half years and Hawthorne's located just south of Inglewood because I believe you had an Inglewood officer on here.

So it's kind of a ghetto town, but then it's also got some nice areas.

Anyway, so yeah, basically that's, you, like I said 28 and a half years.

Okay, yeah, Hawthorne is, I'm new to the area, but I do know that it's a pretty, pretty busy, busy city police work wise for sure.

So Dave, could you tell us the first time,

your first hot call you responded to,

the first call you went to where you really had an
