Summary

In this week’s episode Katie chats with Dating Pro and NYCDateNite Founder Alexis Wolfe. Alexis tells Katie how she went from being a teacher to chronicling her adventures in dating during a 5 year single streak in NYC. They discuss how loneliness is one of the hardest things to deal with, and after a year of single people being locked at home alone, how to work through the social awkwardness we are all undoubtably facing, and get back out there. Alexis shares her tips for creating your best dating profile, what red flags/warning signs to look out for, and what you should never say on a first date. She reminds us that no matter who you meet, there is opportunity to learn something new, even if it’s just finding a great new date spot! You’re gonna love Katie and Alexis sharing their mutual rage text to Britney’s whole family #freebritney, so don’t miss it!!

What's up, everyone? Happy Friday. Welcome back to the podcast. We have an all-new episode,

0:40.4

which means we got an all-new guest. And I'm really excited. I think this is going to be a really

0:45.8

fun episode because this is a subject I'm completely out of my depth on because I have been married

0:53.8

and in a relationship for over a decade. But I have somebody who is an expert on dating.

1:00.2

She's a dating guru. She has a website called NYC Date Night, which is pretty awesome. It's

1:06.4

like a full comprehensive list of really incredible places to go for every occasion. Her name is Alexis.

1:13.4

Well, thank you so much for coming. Hi, Alexis.

1:17.9

Hi. Thanks so much for having me. I'm so excited.

1:21.1

Yeah. So I mean, like I said, I have not dated in so long. So I'm just totally clueless when

1:27.6

it comes to this. So how does one even become or decide to become a dating expert? Is it just

1:34.3

extensive experience? Yeah. Basically, I mean, listen, I still wouldn't really consider myself

1:41.6

an expert, but I feel like an expert can be anyone that's like you said, had a lot of experience

1:47.8

in the area. So that doesn't mean that anyone I date will fall in love with me and that my word is

1:55.3

gold, but I was in a relationship in my early 20s. And then I was single for like six years in my 20s.

2:03.6

So we broke up. You know, I had little relationships here and there, but we broke up when I was like,

2:08.2

maybe five years when I was like 25 and then I was single from 25 to 30 basically. And now I have

2:14.5

a boyfriend and we love together and all that. But in those five years, I've been on so many dates.

2:21.5

And it was just like a roller coaster of horrible, horrible. And you know, when you're single,
