Hi, everybody. Welcome to Smarter News. I'm Jenna, and I'm excited to take a few minutes today to talk to you

about one of your most requested stories of the week, and that's what's happening regarding Venezuela,

the United States, the Department of War, allegations of war crimes. You wanted a little bit more conversation about what's transpiring.

And we've had a couple updates over the last day or so since our last podcast.

So I'm excited to dig in with you.

As we talked about this story on Monday, and I just gave you kind of a brief overview,

there were several parts of the story that I'd love to highlight a little bit

more. And so I'm excited to have this time together. Before I get to that story, though,

I have to share with you something that happened to me this morning that was totally unexpected,

not related to the news at all, but you know when something happens and you're like, I think,

I think I need to share this story for what it's worth. It's going to seem random, but I promise I'm going to bring it back to why it really matters.

So this morning, it dropped off my kids at school, and my brother texted me, my youngest brother, I have two brothers, an older one that still lives in California.

And my younger brother who moved to Texas just a few years ago. We had texted about grabbing coffee because he drops off his kids at school close to where I drop off mine. And this has been nice. We've been trying to do this a little bit more. It's nice to connect with your family and just have a little touch base. And I love my brother. He's seven years younger than me. So he's just a baby. You know, he's my baby brother. So we were able to grab coffee together.

So we were trying to, you know, walk around this barking lot, but we ended up sitting in my car for, you know, 20 minutes just to chat and catch up. he leaves and he's like, what are you doing today? I'm like, I'm doing a podcast on Venezuela. I've got to get out of here. He had a phone call. So he leaves and I'm sitting in my car just looking at my phone

really quickly before I start driving home. You know, what text messages came in, checked in on smarter

news, started a voice note from a friend of mine. And as I'm backing up to leave, I hear this horrific noise.

Like one of those noises that you're like, what is that so loud, so violent, so scary?

And I can see in my rear view camera, all of this metal go flying across the parking lot behind me. Now, I'm in a very quiet parking lot. The front

parking lot to this coffee shop is crazy. That's why I park in the back, because it's not as

crazy. I turn around and I see that a car has also gone across basically where I was backing up and smashed into the other side

of the parking lot. And I'm trying to piece things together. I'm going to show you a video in a second.
