Hi everybody. Welcome to In Good Company. Today, really exciting. We have Dario Amadeh, the CEO

0:07.5

co-founder of Anthropic visiting. Now, Dario, he's a superstar in the AI world, and together

0:13.4

with his team has developed the Claude Language Model, one of the best out there, and they

0:17.8

are backed by Amazon and Google. Now, you are a leading figure, Dario, on AI safety and ethics,

0:26.3

and you even interrupted your holiday to come here and to talk to us.

0:30.2

So big thanks for coming.

0:31.5

Thank you for having me. Now, what are the latest breakthrough in AI?

0:45.9

Yes. So a few things I could talk about. One is, you know, I think the scaling trends of AI are continuing.

0:52.6

So I think we're going to see over the next year,

0:55.2

you know, much bigger and more powerful models that are able to do greater tasks. In fact, by the time

1:00.2

this podcast airs, a new model will be out from Anthropic that will probably be the most

1:04.7

intelligent and powerful model in the world. But one area I'm particularly excited about that

1:09.6

we're developing in parallel with that is interpretability of models.

1:13.3

The ability to see inside our AI models and see why they make the decisions they make.

1:19.6

That area has been mainly a research area for the last few years, and it's just at the beginning of starting to have practical applications.

1:27.0

So that's one area I'm very excited about.

1:29.1

Why is that so important?

1:30.9

So, you know, if you look at what AI models do today, often you won't understand why an

1:38.6

AI model does what it does.

1:40.5

You know, I was just talking to someone at lunch.

2:02.4

Let's say you want, you know, consider your industry. Let's say you want an AI model to be trained on some data, to be able to predict, you know, what happened did a, you know, with a particular set of financial data. One problem you have with training a model to work on that is that if you train it on data in the past, the model might have memorized it because it was trained on, you know,

2:07.6

it basically knows what happens. It knows the future in that case. Interpretability might allow
