She was one of my favorite professors. I got to see an administrative law. That's a whole other story.

But Dean Daniel Holly Walker, how are you doing today?

I'm doing great.

I'm glad you're here.

You know, I think that this question that we usually start our show off with is one that I'm really interested to hear from you which is just talking about your career arc in yours has been both private practice and academia both in the classroom and in leadership.

Walk us through your career path since finishing law school and why did you decide on academia

when you could be making millions of dollars in private practice.

That's so funny when I left private practice that's exactly what the attorneys

of my firm said to me was you know you're leaving a lot of money on the table.

For me, academia is really, it's the family business.

My parents were both HBCU professors.

My mom was an accounting professor. My dad was a law professor and law dean. And so growing up that's all I ever wanted to do. I wanted to be a law professor or a judge and when I was like five years old people would ask me and expect to hear

teacher nurse and I say I want to be on the Supreme Court or be a law professor and

people would be like oh my god a five year old why is she saying?

So when I went to law school I really intended to become an academic.
