Summary

DANI SMITH CASE Season 5 Episode 4 Based on public record files of the Cass County Police Department. In the next episode, you will hear from one of my Patreon members, Haley Ward, who became a Private Investigator, to get answers about the suspicious death of her 20-year-old cousin, Dani Jo Smith of Longview, TX. Dani was a confident and vivacious young woman who went for an ATV ride on the night of July 18, 2014, with her on-again/off-again boyfriend, Jeff Wellborn. Unfortunately, Dani never made it home. Dani died in the hospital that night from a gunshot wound to her head, which was ruled a suicide. Many questions surrounded her death. Why were there three possible crime scenes? Why were none of the other ATV riders interviewed? How could she have shot herself while reclined in a car seat with a seatbelt on? Why would a former Marine who served two tours in Iraq confuse the sound of a gunshot, thinking it was a firecracker? 1:26.0	Seeing all these families search for answers and questioning law enforcement made me immediately think back to my cousin.
1:35.0	Danielle Smith who died in 2014 from a gunshot wound to her head.
1:42.0	Her death was rolled to suicide and my family never could have imagined that she would commit suicide.
1:49.0	We didn't believe it then and we still don't believe it to this day.
1:52.0	There were a lot of questions at the time of her passing.
1:56.0	We didn't understand or things that happened that we didn't understand being 21 years old in my family telling me that your cousin has been found shot.
2:04.0	They're saying it's a suicide.
2:07.0	You trust a law enforcement, even if you don't want to know we didn't want to believe that she could be in the suicide, but we trusted them.
