Season 8 New Release: This interview is inspired by one of the most incredible stories I have ever read. My special guest is Qat Wanders who's here to discuss her book about her early experiences traveling the world and the dangers she encountered with the female she loved.
Get Her Book: Searching For Venus: A Vagabond Lesbian Memoir
"A gripping combination of sexuality and spirituality . . . It's easy to see pieces of ourselves shining through this compelling story that centers on the struggle for inner peace." Spiritual Biz Magazine Searching For Venus is a powerful and inspirational story about one woman's quest to find fulfillment in the face of adversity. After growing up with traditional Jewish influence, Qat falls head over heels when she meets an African-American gypsy girl who changes her life forever. Travel and wanderlust become their new teachers by showing them both so much about themselves along their journey that will transform the way they see the world. With unforgettable real-life characters across different cultures throughout the US, Europe, and India; this eloquent exploration deals candidly yet humorously with religious bigotry, racism, grief and loss, and the importance of overcoming obstacles to make us stronger. This story has been described as "a call to the courageous and the wanderer in all of us" and "a love letter to Life" that encourages people to trust their abundance. With Searching For Venus: A Vagabond Lesbian Memoir, author Qatarina Wanders has crafted an inspiring tale of self-discovery, based on true events, that will resonate with anyone who has ever dared to dream big._________________________________Qatarina Wanders unabashedly traces her journey through the lens of a young woman searching for meaning within disruption. Aside from detailing her own life adventures, she specializes in helping people break free from fear and judgment with her books, podcast, and brand "Living an Unedited Life."

0:00.0 | Hi there, I'm K-Town, and on this edition of Mysterious Radio. |
0:04.6 | I wear a lot of hats. My source of income is from writing books. |
0:33.6 | So, book royalties cover most of my income. I'm also a skydiving instructor, and I own a book production company called Wondering Words Media, where we go straight and edit a lot of different kinds of books. But my specialty is medical books. |
0:51.6 | We have a team of 15 people, and everyone has a specialty. So, the books that I write are mostly the ones that make me the most money on my fiction books. |
1:08.6 | I have a young adult series that I co-authored with my daughter, and I have some science fiction stuff. I'm also a sex therapist, so I don't take clients anymore, but I do write a lot of books about insexuality. So, I've got a few of those that are doing pretty well too. |
1:27.6 | Are you ever going to take clients? I mean, there might be some audience interested in that. |
1:32.6 | I would be open to the right person. It was when I was taking 10 clients a day, an hour each, and then it was too much. I wanted to do other things, but yeah, I would be open to doing it again for the right person if we connected really well. |
1:52.6 | So, you take individuals and couples or just individuals? |
1:56.6 | Yes, individuals and couples. I prefer couples, but I do take individual women. I also work with men, but I'd rather not. |
2:09.6 | Hey, I totally get it. |
2:13.6 | You have your reasons, and nobody can say anything about that. |
2:19.6 | Yeah, I don't really want to work with men again, unless it's like a male-female couple, or even two men, I don't really like working with two men either. |
2:28.6 | Women are couples. Let's just go with women. |
2:31.6 | Women are couples, okay. |
2:33.6 | Awesome. That's awesome. When did you start thinking about writing about your life? |
2:39.6 | Oh, that's a good question. When I started thinking about it, it was probably 2005. |
2:51.6 | I'd say, yeah, about 2005. |
2:54.6 | What happened in 2005 that made you start thinking about it? |
2:59.6 | I felt healed enough to start writing about it, and that was kind of the final healing process, and I actually did start it. |
3:10.6 | It's funny, I can't remember right here. It was at least 10 years ago, though, and I actually put date in the book, so I went back and I journal everything, so I was able to go back and put dates throughout the entire book of when everything happened. |
3:25.6 | It actually is in there the day I started it. I was on a plane to India, and it's like a 30-hour traveling adventure. |
3:35.6 | You said you were on the plane to India or coming back from India? |
