Does not familiarity breed contempt? Well, that's not a Bible verse. Well, it kind of is. That's literally what Jesus says. A prophet's without honor in his hometown, the place where people are familiar with him. So that old adage, familiarity breeds contempt, I'm going to stand by that one because I see it in scripture.

So whether it's your youth, whether it's familiarity, whatever it is, we all have heroes.

Let me say this, we should have heroes because we should be preachers.

And both the man and the message, the right message, and the righteous man, right, sound doctrine and a godly life, setting an example, both by our message and our character, being right and being righteous, we should be presenting the truth of God, both his law and his gospel. And we all have hearers maybe not in very uncomfortable chairs on a Sunday morning

but whether it be family members friends coworkers neighbors we all have hearers and some of them will seek to dismiss us wrongfully

and you can fill in the blank, familiarity, a young

age, whatever it might be. What do you do? Don't allow. That's what you do. Don't be

bothered by it, certainly. I'm not saying, I'm not saying less than that. That's the minimum

bottom line. Don't be bitter.

Don't, don't, don't be vindictive. Don't be angry. Of course that. I'm not saying less than that.

The word of God, I believe, is saying more than that. Don't be bothered, but also

don't allow it.

How do you not allow it?
