Hi, Jays Thursday June 8th. Good morning, Kathy. Good morning in the news this morning.

A dangerous smokey haze has filled the Philadelphia region due to wildfires burning in Canada.

A code red air quality alert remains in effect for the entire Delaware Valley.

The civil satellite shows thick smoke moving through our region.

It has reached areas from Philadelphia on North and continues to press southward.

While many areas have been in the red unhealthy zone, some places in this plume are showing even higher in a very unhealthy zone now.

The reason we are seeing such concentrated smoke has to do with the weather.

So we're actually stuck in between the low pressure east of Maine and high pressure just west of us.

That means the wildfire smoke is being directly funneled through the northeast and into our region.

And it's a very serious scenario that it is just getting funneled right to here.

It's a funnel, a concentrated dose of it all.

They're saying Saturday the air quality should slowly improve.

Although I feel like that's just keeps getting pushed back the day that they're telling us that it's going to be better.

I was watching this morning and they were saying that it is pushing southerly.

And that by later today it will be a bit better here and worse in Delaware.

Oh, okay.

So I had a line on an article this morning online that said that New York City has a worst quality.

Air quality in the world.

And I was honestly bizarrely I felt yet defensive for Philadelphia again.

I think we have worse air quality than New York.
