Today is the first day of May. Good morning Kathy.

Good morning and the news this morning. Philadelphia police are investigating after a

three year old was shot in Gray's very neighborhood on Sunday. The incident happened after

5pm. Police say a 23 year old woman was walking down the 1500 block of Taney street carrying

her three year old son when she heard two to three shots fired in the area when the

woman told police that she saw two men dressed in dark clothing running from the scene.

When the mother looked down at her son police say she realized he had been struck in the

cheek by gunfire. Then a woman driving in the area spotted the mother and son and drove

them to the nearest fire station on Gray's very avenue. She stayed with the two wildfire

fighters ran to help. The child was transported to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and

is in stable condition. There have been no reports of arrest made and no weapons were

recovered. Officials say the woman's vehicle that was used to transport the mother and child

is being held at the scene.

Dave Chan police say a plot to kill two of their own unfolded early Sunday morning in

what began as a routine traffic stop. A pursuit ensued when officers tried to pull over a speeding

car on Taunt and Lake Road at about 1am Sunday. It was quickly called off due to the risk
