We'll start it off, as always, with the transactions, injuries, news and notes from around

the league, kicking things off of the bad news as first baseman Reese Hoskins was placed on the

10-day IL with a grade two thumb sprain. This was expected. This is the official placement here. And also as expected

first baseman Andrew Vaughn was recalled from the minors. He's expected to be on the short side

of a first base platoon with Jake Bowers to replace Hoskins while he is out. Von Homered in his

first day back in the majors. Our other aisle placement involves closing pitcher Shelby Miller,

who was placed on the 15-day IL with a right forearm strain.

Very unfortunate as the Diamondbacks bullpen has been completely depleted by injuries.

Not only did AJ Puck go down and Justin Martinez go down both with elbow surgeries, but also now

Shelby Miller dealing with arm related injuries as well. So they cannot really get a closer that's

going to stay healthy. It looks like Kevin Ginkle will close for the Diamondbacks until Millie

returns for the time being. Juan Murillo was recalled for the miners in a corresponding move.

In terms of transactions, second baseman Casey Schmidt was activated from the IL after dealing

with hand inflammation.

With Matt Chapman back, Schmidt is expected to play second base after having played

mostly third base this year.
