Let's dive into everything baseball related from Wednesday, April 1st. We'll start it off as

always with the transactions, injuries, news and notes from around the league, kicking things off

with the bad news as relief pitcher Carlos Estevez was placed on the 15-day IL with a left foot contusion.

Estevez was struck by a line drive in his season debut, but it's got to be more than just the foot

contusion because Estevez's velocity was way down in that outing and it was down all spring

long before the foot injury ever occurred. So I think there's something more serious going on with

Estevez, but the Royals are using the foot injury as an excuse right now, or maybe

Estevez is. But for now, looks like Lucas Ursaig appears to be the favorite for saves

for the Royals. And I think he should be rostered everywhere, because even if Estabas does return,

we're not sure what his velocity is going to look like. And even if he does recover the

velocity, this is somebody who is due for a lot of regression. And even if the regression doesn't come,

the ballpark is, the new dimensions of the ballpark that is in Kansas City are sure to

force Estevez to see his ratios fall closer to his expected metrics. But go ahead and pick

up Lucas Erseg for the time

being. And our other IL placement involves starting pitcher Zach Eflin, who was placed on the 15-day

IL with right elbow discomfort. He was removed early from his season debut, and I was a little bit

worried considering the nature of the elbow injury, but looks like he's going to require

an IL stent.
