If you've Googled something today, or used the internet, you might want to thank Saint Isidore

of Seville. He's a top contender for patron saint of the internet. Born in the sixth century,

Isidore lived during a time when Spain was divided.

The Visigoths, who followed the Aryan heresy, had set up camp in the land of Catholic

Romans.

So, right from the start, Isidore was born in a conflict.

But instead of picking sides, he picked up a pen.

Educated by his brother, St. Leander, yes, he had three saintly

siblings, Isidore eventually became the Bishop of Seville. He was a scholar, a teacher, and a

builder of unity. He wrote an encyclopedia that became the textbook of Europe for centuries.
