Hello and welcome into the Northwest Bank Studios for the Daily Clone here on a Tuesday.

Today we talked to the two major coordinators at Iowa State.

Offensive coordinator Taylor Mouser and defensive coordinator John Haycock.

Mouser has his first season as the play caller under his belt.

And by most accounts, I would call it a success.

Mouser helped lead the cyclones to their first 11-win

season in program history and help see record production out of wide receivers, Jaden Higgins, and Jalen

Null. But even Mouser is critical of himself for some of the struggles that the offense saw.

Here's how Mouser evaluates his first season as the play caller.

I still have a lot of bitterness at myself just for, you know, some of the games and calls I got away from me. And, you know, the Big 12 championship game is something that I still think about probably too often. And for me, like, I'm so grateful to be the offensive coordinator with the staff and the kids that we had to be able to give back to Coach Campbell for everything that he's given me.

But you look back and there's a lot of like what ifs and, you know, things we could have done different. And I'm happy for the success at the program and the fans and everybody had. And I still, like, kick myself at times for certain things. And you never know, like, what would have happened here and there? And you have to live with it. And that's fine. and there's enough to worry about going forward to,

but I try not to dwell back on, you know, last season, it's all learning

opportunities and growth for me and our offense. And what can we learn from last year that,

you know, I can't do going forward and, you know, everything I could do to put our offense in a

better situation. Mouser and Rocco continue to build their relationship.

Much like his OC, Rocco had a strong 2024, but left room for improvement.

Here's where Mouser wants to see Rocco grow in 2025.

No different than myself and our offense, there's consistency things here and there that are

always challenging and there's just a hair off here and there and

timing ways and how can we put more on his plate to, you know, from a checks or a kill thing like that and be able to take control of the offense.

She did such a good job of it last year. So for us and, you know, myself, it's there's a couple little things here and there.
