The BLS released their July Empset this morning,

and the non-farm payrolls rose 1.76 million in July,

beating the median estimate of 1.48 million.

The growth in the leisure and hospitality sector as well as

retail was particularly robust. Since the trough in April the US job market has

added about 9.3 million jobs and yet it remains the case that the total pay rolls are still short of February levels by a

staggering 12.88 million.

So while we may be on the road to recovery, we're not even halfway there yet.

The BLS also reported the latest unemployment rates which did reflect the

gain seen in the non-farm payrolls. The U3 unemployment rate fell to 10.2 percent, lower than the 10.6 that was expected.
