I'm Mark Stephen and my guest today is Roger Morgan Grenville.

Now Roger is a man with quite a history. He's a former soldier.

He's the author of a number of books on subjects from the game of cricket to the mank, sheer water.

At the moment, he's undertaking a very, very long walk from the south of England to Cape Rath in the north of Scotland.

Why? Well, he's trying to highlight the decline of the country's largest

wading bird, the curlew. Now, part of our chat on the Curleweree featured in our

Out of Doors programme, but as you'll hear, our conversation range far and wide on a whole

variety of topics. I met up with Roger on his walk as he approached Elwhinney in the Highlands.

Well, the walk, I guess, has three angles to.

The easiest one is I'm 62, I needed an adventure.
