Hey there, Sprouse. Today is Tuesday, July 9th. Today is also the feast day of some heroic martyrs from China. We celebrate all of the martyrs from China. There are many,

many of them, but in particular, we celebrate St. Augustine wrong and his

companions. Now, St. Augustine was a priest. He was a diocesan priest who lived in the year 1815 in China.

Missionaries had been coming to China for hundreds of years before this, but at this time,

the non-Christian government began to crack down on Christianity.

They arrested hundreds of Christians, and when they refused to renounce their faith, they were

martyred in horrific ways. In fact, one of the young companions that was with Father Augustine when he was marty was a man named Chai.

He was only 18 years old.

And as the story goes, he had both of his arms cut off during a very brutal martyrdom.

But even after he had lost both of his arms, he said, Every piece of my flesh, every drop of my blood will tell you that I am Christian.

Just a heroic witness, not only by these two men, St. Augustine and the young man named Chai, but so many others,

many of whom we don't even know their names, but yet they offer this incredible witness to what we should be able to
