So yes, this is hell and not only is our planet on fire, but crop diversity is endangered too.

It must be as we are storing away seeds of endangered plants, so when we need them in a future of far less

plant diversity than we currently have and like I said we must not have much of a future and

the future must be really bleak if we're storing away all these seeds and seed

vaults. Why else would we have constructed places like this valbard global seed vault?

You may have seen images of the vault, a minimalist wedge shimmering in the Norwegian

archipelago of Svalbard, stuck in permafrost and thick rock to protect seed samples

from the world's crop collections, just in case we need them to feed ourselves

and survive in the future.

Although you got to admit it's a weird way to preserve crop diversity by storing it away in

a frozen locker to sit on shelves until who knows when.

However, it's not that weird when you consider the history of crop diversity, how crops

were abundant and diverse, that is until Modernity arrived with its science and research, ready to improve upon the

natural world and make it well modern, and that meant better, or so they assumed, no longer being stewarded by indigenous cultures and instead controlled by Western civilization.
