0:00.0 | Hi, everyone. It's Stephen Schleiker. Before we get into this week's episode, I wanted to talk a little bit about good friends of major spoilers and contributors to major spoilers. |
0:09.0 | Jason and men in Ashley Victoria Robinson. They have a brand new comic book coming out called Jupiter Jet. And Ashley and Jason are here today to talk about it. Ashley, what is Jupiter Jet? |
0:20.0 | That's such a great question, Stephen. Jupiter Jet is our first comic book mini series and it stars a 16 year old heroine named Jupiter Jet. |
0:29.0 | And she has a jet pack with a mysterious power source. She rides all over her neighborhood, stealing from the rich, giving to the poor, fighting bad guys with ray guns and glowing eyes. And she has a genius little brother who helps her along the way and a really cool cat. |
0:42.0 | Oh, that sounds awesome. I've seen some of the art for this. It looks fantastic. Jason, this is a what a five issue mini series. When is this coming out? |
0:50.0 | This is a five issue mini series. Yes. This is like the first volume that we hope would be a five if we get to go more. We've completed the first issue. |
0:59.0 | We are doing the Kickstarter to raise money for issue two, three, four and five. And we partner with Action Lab Comics. Action Lab is going to distribute the book to comic book stores. |
1:10.0 | But in a creator own book, of course, they don't help you with production costs. So that's why we're doing the Kickstarter. And hopefully this book would see the light of day once funded in fall of this year. |
1:20.0 | Yeah. It's so cool that so many independent creators can get out there like you guys and actually get comics in front of people in some great different voices and great characters in front of people. |
1:30.0 | But as you said, you have to pay for the production cost yourself. A lot of publishers today, small publishers don't pay for the artist or the writers or anything like that. |
1:38.0 | So you guys are trying to raise money for the for the four remaining issues in this series. How much is that? And what is your goal for this Kickstarter? |
1:47.0 | So we have set our goal at $14,500 to cover all of basically the art production costs that is our artists, our colorants and our letterer. |
1:57.0 | It was really important to us to pay them equitable fair wages and they're all amazing. Right now we're we've made a really good dent in that. We're on our way, but we have a little bit left to go. |
2:08.0 | And to give people some perspective about that, we're not paying ourselves for this. We decided to not get paid for this book. We we just want to make sure that the book gets made and actually have just want to make comics and to help that out. |
2:21.0 | We were just like, well, let's not pay ourselves. |
2:23.0 | You have some great artists and colorists in this. Tell us a little bit about them or at least drop their name so that people know. |
2:30.0 | Ben Matsuya is our artist and he was a great find because he was a fan of mine who found me online. He drew some fan art of me. |
2:38.0 | And I loved it so much that I literally responded back to him's like, do you draw comics? And he was like, yes, and it's been Kismet ever since. And then we have an awesome colorist as well. |
2:47.0 | Yes, we have Mara Jane. She is currently the colorist on JTree Protection Service. And that's done. She is working on Jupiter Jet. |
2:54.0 | And we actually found her through our letterer Taylor Esposito who owns Ghost Cliffs Studios. He's absolutely amazing. And we've worked with him for our work for Alternat and DC IDW in the past as well. |
3:05.0 | And he's probably the biggest name on the project because he's actually lettered Red Hood in the outlaws and like new 52 futures end. |
3:12.0 | Yeah, he's amazing. |
