Across the country, violent crime is surging. In New York, murders are up 23% in Philadelphia

30% in Tucson 76%. What's causing it? The hardships and pent-up frustrations due to

COVID, the defund the police movement and the toll it has taken on police officers, or

is there something else going on? Nobody knows more about policing and is better able

to address these questions than Bill Bratton. A one-time street cop, Bratton has served

as police commissioner twice in New York City, as well as Stinson Charger, the cops in Los

Angeles and Boston. We'll talk to Bratton about the violent crime surge, and his new book,

The Profession, a memoir of community race in the arc of policing in America, and as a

special bonus, you'll hear his take on the New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani who he once
