The socialite convicted of helping her boyfriend cover up the murder of a Connecticut mother of five appeared in court this week in a bid to be released from prison.

Michelle Chaconis was sentenced to 20 years behind bars in 2024 after she was convicted of helping Fotis Doulos plot his wife Jennifer's May 2019 killing and then helping him hide the crime after the fact.

Jennifer's body was never found.

Triconis's team had argued that her case should be tossed on the grounds that she got bad legal advice from her former lawyer,

who allowed Triconis to talk with police multiple times in 2019.

Those statements to investigators were then used against her in trial.

Triconis's new team also claimed she wasn't informed about the fact that her former lawyer also spoke with the prosecutor. The judge will have 120 days to issue a decision on Triconus's petition to be freed. If he sides with her, her case would be overturned and prosecutors would decide whether to put her on trial again.
