Good afternoon, everyone.

It's Dr. Niagara again, our next episode of Psychology Unplugged.

As always, a heartfelt thank you and appreciation and gratitude for all of you guys who follow the program,

It's a pleasure to do this, i always make sure i started every episode

acknowledging um in appreciating uh the the faith that you guys have in us like you said we

know we're not treating anybody but um it's such an honor when people come from

different parts of um the united states or other countries for me to evaluate them.

And I really do consider that a blessing and my sincere thank you and gratitude.

So today we're going to focus on a pretty interesting disorder, and it's one that I diagnose, I think I had two cases in the last few weeks, and it's an interesting disorder, and it's called conversion disorder or functional neurological symptom disorder.

So in this disorder, individuals are experiencing and even demonstrating physiological and neurological symptoms of which there is no organic or neurological

explanation or etiology.

So, you know, for the diagnostic, I may, you know, this one I made notes for, because this is

kind of, this is complicated, but it's something that you'll see a lot in clinical practice.

So with the symptoms, one or more of the symptoms of altered voluntary motor and sensory functioning, okay?

So motor is movement,

sensation is side, sound, taste, touch, smell.

And the findings provide evidence of like there's incompatibility

between the symptoms and other medical conditions.

So it doesn't always make sense what people report

or what they generally demonstrate by physical observation.

So you kind of see it across several areas
