Today we have with us a guest who's excellent research

and writing I've been following for at least a decade.

He is the author of More Guns Less Crime, a book

I've referred to many, many times

for fact-based assessments of gun crime and gun policy, as well as gun control myths, how politicians, the media and botched studies have twisted the facts on gun control.

But he is also an activist, a political advisor,

and the founder of the Crime Prevention Research Center.

He has a long history in academia

and as an economist and his scholarship spans a range of important and controversial topics including a favorite of hours election results.

So without further ado, it is our honor to welcome Mr. John Lott.

Well, thanks Monica and Brad for having me on.

I appreciate it.

Well, you have, I was really thrilled to talk to you.

I've been following your work for years and you do have amazing credentials and your

research is thorough and transparent yet if someone were to do like a cursory Google search they get a lot of

smear stuff a lot of hit stuff could you tell us a little bit about your just to

set people straight like how you approach this I mean the I immediately always think of your approach like Thomas soul it's just all about the data and I knew he would love you and I found lots of quotes of him loving you so I just thought maybe you just touch a little bit about what you

think is going on there, your approach and then how you're received.

Right. Well, I just so you know, Tom was a professor of mine at UCLA. He was probably one of the hardest professors I've ever had.
