Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala has destroyed previous nations for various reasons.

And then he tells us that he would not have destroyed certain people,

had they turned to him, had they repented,

and had they believed and developed their relationship with him.

This is something amazing.

One might say, why would he want us to develop a relationship with him

if we'd like to protect ourselves from being destroyed?

Simple, because he created us.

The one who creates is the one who decides what will happen.

So if you look at Surat Al-Araf, verse 96, Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala says,

Lafa Tahrna Aalehi Barakatim Minas Samai Wal Ard

Had the people of the towns believed and developed their consciousness of Allah,

what we know as Takwa, then we would have opened the Barakat or the blessings.

From the heavens and from the earth for them, but they didn't.

So what happened?

We destroyed them.

From this I learned that if I'd like to achieve contentment,
