So after it emerged on Sunday that the Tottenham board had held talks regarding the possible

dismissal of their manager, they have this morning sacked Nuno Espirito Santo with Antonio

Conte, the leading contender. I'm joined by Jack Pitt Brook, who covers Tottenham for the

Athletic and our Italian

writer James Horncastle. This seems to have moved very quickly, Jack. My understanding the

situation is that Saturday night was so awful that soon after that Daniel Levy and Fabio Peraci

decided that they needed to make a change. Talk started on Sunday morning about what's

do next. I think it was, I think as soon as those talks started really, everybody knew the

outcome, which was that Nuno would get sacked. Obviously, the official announcement of that

didn't come through until Monday morning, but I'm sure the decision was taking internally before

then. And now, I mean, it's what, 1039 on Monday morning. We just published a story

saying that Antonio Conte's in pole position for the job. I'm sure that Paratachi, Conte's old mate,

who tried to get him in at Tottenham, only five months ago would have been working on this in

private for a while because they wouldn't want to sack someone until they had some idea who's
