0:35.5 | outdoors in your raised bed or you still may want to grow a nice bushy plant that produces a lot of fruit |
0:44.1 | And so that's what we're talking about. We're talking about tomatoes that do well in containers. |
0:47.5 | Your first consideration for this has to be size. |
0:51.6 | You may want to stay away from some of those indeterminate |
0:54.4 | airloom tomatoes because number one they are indeterminate. Their size is not |
0:59.5 | determined. It will keep growing and growing and growing. |
1:03.0 | Many of these indeterminates and heirlooms are also more prone to disease. |
1:08.0 | They do not have disease resistance bred into them like many other varieties do, perhaps a hybrid tomato for example. |
1:16.3 | Now let's talk about some tomatoes that can do well in containers. |
1:21.2 | The first one and the one I always recommend just look for the word |
1:24.8 | patio. So patio it's an F1 hybrid, it's determinate and it will give you a fruit within 70 days and |
1:31.5 | that fruit's going to be roughly the size of a tennis ball. |
1:35.0 | Next you have Bush Early Girl. |
1:37.7 | This is another hybrid. |
1:39.1 | It is a favorite. |
1:40.0 | You see it in nurseries all around the country really. |
1:42.9 | It's quite disease resistance and it will create |
1:45.3 | some small fruits within around 50 to 55 days or so. |
1:49.6 | The next one, Better Bush. |
