In this week's show we're going to talk about the archangels and how you can connect with them on a more deeper level to enhance your spiritual life

but before we get into all of that we wanted to give you some history of the

archangels and what sages and mystics and writers have said about them throughout our history.

Do you want me to start with kind of like a breakdown of the angels, Denise?

That sounds great. Okay, so I was reading about how there's such a

hierarchy to the angels. Most of that hierarchy we get from St Thomas

Aquinas. He said that there were nine orders of angels and their

ranking is determined by their closeness to God. So you have the Serra from the

cherubim, thrones, dominions, the virtues,

powers, principalities, the archangels, and the angels.

And each of these nine orders are broken down

into three houses. So the first house is the angel of contemplation and this

includes the Serafim, the cherubim, and the Thrones and they're concerned with

the entire universe and they don't really deal with us humans in a very direct way.

Their focus is more on God and spreading the grace of God throughout the universe.

So in this group, the Angels of Contemplation you have the Seraphim. They're described as

having six wings two of which cover their faces. They sit closest to God and are even mentioned twice in the Bible in the book of Isaiah and the book of revelations.

You have the cherubim, their job is to guard the light and the stars and they're said to be keepers of wisdom and

secrets. Ezekiel describes them as having four faces of a lion and ox an eagle

and a man.
