Well, welcome to the first stuff and things of 2011. Yeah, I've subtitled this,

Confessions of a recovered Patriot Idiot. And there's, you know, maybe I'll throw in the second

subtitle because I haven't written this stuff out yet. And that would be, how much time do you have to

waste? Like the song from Bonnie Wright, afraid to Run Out of Time, when she says, life gets awful

precious when there's less of it to waste.

Beautiful.

I remember also a little placard that was in one of my friends, his kitchen, you know.

I remember going there when I was 13, and a little placard said,

we get, what is it, we get too old, too fast, too smart, too late.

That's true, too.

So I'm at an advantage from most of you and i understand also why older people get grumpy and that's because they seem the same shit

generationally like what maybe four five six times around and i mean i was

part of the young and dumb too i understand that some listened more than others i think i did to a

certain extent not as much as i should have but certainly more than others had because they understand

where it's at and there are you know it's funny because when I was young, I looked at some

guys that used to be pro ball players. And I sized myself up looking at them. And here they are like,

you know, 70 years old or something. I'm like, yeah, dude, you ain't anything. And I'm like,

wait a second. You know, how do you know what they were like in their own cohort in their own time they don't look

at anything now because i mean you know what does willie mays look like now you know what does

micky mannall look like now he's dead um and then you start to realize you can't look at it that

way you got to look at everyone in their time.

And that's when I started to like listen a little bit more because I realized that there were some guys who were dudes in their time.
