There's a time to stop oppressing the super majority, a piece of New York Times where Tim Wu

points out that while Congress is doing nothing, actually the Senate, the Republican-controlled Senate is doing nothing on any of these issues. The Republican-controlled Senate is

doing nothing on any of these issues. The democratically-controlled House is actually

passing legislation right now on all of these issues.

But here's what he says.

About 75% of Americans favor higher taxes

for the ultra wealthy.

Paid maternity leave, 67% support, 83% support for net neutrality, over 60% stronger

privacy laws 71% think we should be able to buy drugs imported from Canada.

92% want Medicare to negotiate lower drug prices and so on and

none of that is happening because of Republican obstruction. Now why is

that not happening because of Republican obstruction, because the Republicans are owned by right-wing

billionaires and the corporations that made them billionaires.

It really just comes right down to that.
