So, I mean, there's a very, very old concept that the church to Rome would not err.

And that was a bit more of an ambiguous concept.

The Church of Rome will always ultimately be on the right side of a dispute.

But the idea of the Pope having a kind of the term personal is sort of fraught,

but a quote unquote personal infallibility. I'm told by

historians of the Middle Ages, it's a medieval concept, a late medieval concept. And the idea of

infallibility is essentially that the Holy Spirit protects the church, first and foremost, from erring on a dogma.

And the reason that that's so important is because dogmas must be believed for salvation.

Okay, so the whole concept is tied into salvation, and that can sometimes be lost, I think, in contemporary discourse.
