Hey Last Archive Listeners, I want to tell you about a new series we're running in the last archive feed starting next week.

Last year, Jill Lepore, the acclaimed New Yorker writer, American historian, and founding

host of the show, published a book called The Dead Line.

It's a combination of years worth of beautiful essays Jill's written on everything from the

history of cryogenics to the Silicon Valley

Gospel of Disruption.

We made the audiobook version of the deadline over here at Pushkin and my colleague

Sophie Crane, who's worked on the last archive with us since the beginning and who directed the

deadline, kept saying to me that while they were making it, it felt like a kind of grown-up

story hour at the library, just getting to listen to Jill read these lovely essays out loud.

So we've decided to bring six of those essays to you, one per week so you two can attend Jill

the four-story hour.

And more than that.

At the end of each essay, I interviewed Jill about her craft as a writer and how she's thinking about the themes of these essays now.

We talk Frankenstein, we talk writing leads, we talk Barbie, we talk Dr. Who.

This is a crazy origin story.

I don't think I've ever told this before.
