Beginning today, December 28, 2018, each week Meridian Magazine’s founders, Scot and Maurine Proctor, will be giving a 30-minute podcast on the “Come, Follow Me” curriculum for the week. This is so you can listen with your scriptures in hand, or while you are about life’s many other duties. If you want some thoughts about teaching your family or in Church lessons, this can be a place to turn. If you live alone, let us study with you. This week's lesson: "We are responsible for our own learning."

0:21.0	We love to talk, discuss, enjoy, and celebrate the scriptures. This is our
0:26.6	passion. It's why we do Meridian and it's why we are talking to you today. We are the
0:32.4	publishers and editors of Meridian magazine.
0:35.0	We've taught Institute for 18 years. We've written a number of books on
0:39.0	scripture and the history of the church. And mostly we just love scripture and so excited to talk
0:45.5	about it. Special thanks to Paul Cardal for providing music for this podcast. Now we
0:50.4	hope that you'll study along and listen to this podcast in your car in the kitchen or while you're reading the scriptures.
0:56.5	We just want it to become kind of a part of your life. We've been invited to do study groups. This is one of them.
1:02.4	So let's begin with lesson one. I love how this starts because
1:06.7	the beginning says I am responsible for my own learning. With this new change in the way we do things in the church, we have the chance to come
1:15.8	home and study the scriptures on our own.
1:19.3	I believe this is the Lord's way of giving us his trust and saying I know you can do this because
1:24.4	sometimes we've been spoon-fed with our spirituality. We hope that the gospel
1:29.6	doctrine teacher has a great lesson prepared and did we prepare did we read the lesson in
1:34.3	advance to come to science school well I didn't read it this week oh oh well he'll
1:37.9	have a good lesson or she'll have a good lesson and and it doesn't always work out
1:41.6	that way we think someone else is responsible for our learning
1:44.2	we come away from the lesson we say hmm that wasn't a very good lesson or that was a
1:49.5	great lesson and we still are kind of entitled.
1:52.6	We're waiting for them to give us that spirituality.
