Summary
(00:00-27:05) – Query & Company opens on a Friday with Jake Query, Jimmy Cook, and producer Eddie Garrison sharing some of their thoughts ahead of the Colts/Saints game this weekend. They try to decipher what kind of team the Saints are because their record doesn’t match what they’d expect with Alvin Kamara, Chris Olave, Michael Thomas, and Derek Carr.
(27:05-40:57) – Earlier in the day, Mike Woodson announced that there would not be any punishment for Mackenzie Mgbako following his arrest last week. Jake believes that Indiana basketball is just like all the other college basketball programs in the country.
(40:57-46:13) – Jimmy and Jake close out the first hour of the show by discussing the debut of Damian Lillard with the Milwaukee Bucks last night and then access where LeBron James is at in his career entering year 21 in the NBA.
(46:13-1:16:03) – Scott Agness from Fieldhouse Files and 1075thefan.com joins Query & Company for the first time to evaluate the performance from the Pacers in the first game of the season, accesses at what point in the season we will have an idea on what kind of team the Pacers have, breaks down the defensive scheme that Rick Carlisle has put in place this year to try to improve the team in that area, which player could struggle with accepting their new role within the team, reveals some potential options that the Pacers have when it comes to closing games, and shares his opinion on Adam Silver announcing the All-Star Game going back to it’s traditional format this year.
(1:16:03-1:27:20) – Jake and Jimmy shift their conversation to College Football with Purdue going on the road to take on Nebraska because Jake views the Cornhuskers in the same light as Indiana basketball. They discuss who they think should be the front runner for the Heisman trophy.
(1:27:20-1:32:00) – The one o’clock hour concludes with Jake and Jimmy providing an update on the status of several Colts players before Sunday’s game against the Saints.
(1:33:42-2:00:52) – Co-host of the Wake Up Call with KB & Andy in Kevin Bowen makes his weekly stop on the program to preview this weekend’s Colts game against the Saints. He dives into impact Jonathan Taylor can have on the offense this week, accesses which loss this weekend is worse between JuJu Brents and Braden Smith, weighs in on what kind of team the Saints are right now with Derek Carr as their quarterback, and discusses the importance of the next couple weeks when it comes to making the playoffs.
(2:00:52-2:09:54) – Jake and Jimmy introduce a new segment called the Two Minute Drill! Jake and Jimmy talk with four guests from different parts of the country to talk about some of the hot topics in sports. Columnist Mac Engel for Fort Worth Star-Telegram joins first to discuss the thrill of the Rangers making the World Series. The next stop on the trip is Cleveland with Jonathan Peterlin of 92.3 The Fan to discuss the Cavaliers expectations this season. Brandon Krisztal from Fox Sports Radio in Denver also joins to access how much a loss Bruce Brown will be for the Nuggets and where things are at with the Denver Broncos. Finally, David Kaplan from ESPN 1000 in Chicago closes it out by determining if there is quarterback controversy with the Bears and the players only meeting the Bulls had after the first game of the season.
(2:09:54-2:15:59) – Today’s show ends with Jimmy sharing the JCook Plays of the Day, Eddie sharing a bet he likes, and the guys revealing their prediction for Sunday’s Colts game!
