Colorism has been in the news again thanks in part to the controversy over the dearth of Afro-Latino actors featured in Lin Manuel Miranda’s latest film In the Heights. This week, hosts Jarrett Hill and Tre’vell Anderson are joined by an actual resident of The Heights, returning guest Jarrett Lucas, who is the Executive Director of The Stonewall Foundation. This is the first part of a two-part conversation on colorism.

0:39.6	we're going to let you know that this is a trigger warning. We're going to be discussing
0:42.7	Bill Cosby for the next few minutes. However, not really discussing specific alleged sexual
0:48.0	assaults, but the case in general. So I want to let you know that. It is time for past the popcorn.
0:54.0	Really talking about Bill Cosby, but more so about Felicia Rashad. Here is a little bit
0:59.8	of what happened on last week's show. Jared on this episode of Fantide could not have known
1:07.8	that the following morning after talking about Bill Cosby, there'd be a breaking headline that,
1:13.4	quote, Bill Cosby has, quote, been released. And quote, from prison, according to the
1:20.0	Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, apparently Bill Cosby got out of jail because they believed
1:25.6	he didn't have a fair trial. I can't even process that this just happened because, of course,
1:30.8	it happened. So the internet completely shot itself last week when on Wednesday morning,
1:36.5	we all woke up to find out that America's dad slashed serial rape that sued disguise
1:40.1	himself as a gynecologist who should never be allowed to have a bartending license. Also
1:43.6	known as Bill Cosby was rather unexpectedly released from prison. I was really excited about
1:49.4	that one. I know it is. Y'all know most of the details by now, but the TLDR version is that
1:55.3	the Pennsylvania Supreme Court found that Cosby's whole trial was unconstitutional because it was
2:00.6	based on information that was only procured in a way that the court found was essentially not legal.
