I caught this this morning on NPR.

when the Trump administration shut down a key safety net in the VA home loan program,

This comes after a years-long debacle inside the VA, has whiplashed thousands of vets between various enacted and

canceled programs and left many of them on the brink of losing their homes, often through no

fault of their own. Now, here's what happened. Back during COVID, the VA, this is VA loans, right? People

who've gotten loans using the, the, the, the, my dad, he bought the house

that I grew up in. I mean, this is back in 1956. He was a World War II veteran, and so he got a VA loan,

a 2% VA loan to buy that house. There's all these veterans who bought their homes with VA loans,

and then these are people who are no longer in the military, you know, don't have

a regular paycheck coming in. They're working real jobs and things, and those jobs went away

during COVID. So the VA said, you know, you can suspend your payments for a while and then,

you know, catch up later on and we'll work out a payment plan so it doesn't hit you all at once

and all that kind of stuff. And Biden renewed that plan.

The plan actually expired during the Biden administration, and it created chaos for a few months,

and Biden put it back into place. So Trump comes riding in, and by the way, the Republicans were opposed to this. In fact, this is from NPR also, quote, Republicans in Congress citing costs
