Summary

The Athletic's Matt Fortuna and Chris Vannini join Andy to react to Week 3! The ACC, other than Clemson, is a complete dumpster fire. Will it be a cakewalk to the playoff for the Tigers? Are they out with a loss? USC loses to BYU in overtime and Clay Helton is on the hot seat. Urban Meyer should be choice A, B, C and D if and when Helton is fired. Kentucky & Michigan State both miss last minute FG's to lose at home. Pat Narduzzi makes a questionable decision vs. Penn State. UCF's pipeline of QBs from Hawaii continues to produce.

Welcome to the Andy Staples show.

Another crazy week of college football.

0:27.5

No massive upset, no kind of defining game.

I got to bring in one of the OG national writers for the athletic, Matt Fortuna, to help me figure

this out. Matt, you're the guy who writes the takeaways. What are we to take away from this

0:43.6

Saturday? Well, just this Saturday, I had the luxury of getting to watch all this unfold from the

0:48.3

comforts of my couch while our Max Olsing was weathering literal storms and figurative storms in Ames, Iowa. H storms. Hill storms, too. I mean, that did not look pleasant, nor did really the quality of play on the field for the most part there. But my takeaway was the ACC is in trouble. I mean, Clemson probably can't lose a game. And now I don't think they'll lose a game. I don't think they'll be favored by probably less than 10 or 15 points in any remaining game. But holy crap, I mean, this was just a bad weekend for a league that has had a lot of bad weekends over the last season a half. I mean, it was bad starting Friday night and Chestnut Hill and finishing Saturday night with, you know, I wouldn't say Florida State losing

to Virginia is the worst thing in the world because Virginia was the preseason coastal favorite.

1:31.7

But what's it say about Florida State that Virginia wins that game by seven points?

1:36.3

And my reaction is Virginia did even cover against Florida State.

1:39.3

I mean, it's just kind of really, really bad.

1:41.2

That says it all, although, I mean, the way that game ended now,

1:44.8

bad week for the conference office and the refs, too, because the ACC game that wasn't an

ACC game on Friday night, Wake Forest, North Carolina ends with an officiating mistake,

where they should have had one more second on the clock. Florida State, Virginia,

1:59.8

ends with an officiating mistake where they should have stopped the

clock to move the change with seven seconds and didn't stop it until four seconds.

2:06.8

And then Florida State doesn't clock the ball.

2:10.8

Now, Willie Taggart was asked about that.

They ended up running a wildcat play with Cam Acres.

2:16.6

He said he didn't know if the extra three seconds would have changed the decision.
