So I'm going to introduce you really quick.

Kim Hopkins is a licensed clinical social worker who specialized in working with

behaviorally challenging kids for more than 20 years. She has been a collaborative and proactive

solutions trainer since 2007 helping schools, residential programs, hospitals, and parents

to successfully implement the CPS model.

Ms. Hopkins is also the director of outreach and communication for Dr. Ross Green's nonprofit,

lives in the balance. So today we're really going to focus on collaborative and proactive

solutions. So for those who are unfamiliar with that approach, how would you describe that?

It's quite different from how we're thought to parent kids and educate kids and provide services

to kids. And it's based in a few kind of key tenants or really we call them big shifts because we're all taught so different

than this. But first, we like to not focus on behavior. And most models, you're focusing on,

you know, frequency, intensity of behavior, how do you, you know, address behavior, how do you

stop behavior? We're not focused on behavior. We're focused on problems that precipitate behavior, unsolved problems, problems that are unsolved, that are waiting for the adults to step in and help to solve these problems. So we call this an upstream model. When kids are in the water, they're doing their behavior. And a lot of models are focused on
