Colin’s joined by John Middlekauff, host of “3 and Out” to break down the wild card round of the NFL playoffs and preview the college football playoff championship game.
They start with the shorthanded 49ers beating the Eagles on the road and Colin argues the gap in coaching ability between Kyle Shanahan & Nick Sirianni is massive. He credits Brock Purdy for overcoming two interceptions & finding ways to win the game despite several mistakes and John calls it one of the worst playoff losses of all time for the Eagles (2:30).
They move to the Bills beating the Jaguars on the road. Colin declares Josh Allen is one of the greatest NFL players he’s ever seen, and they debate whether Jacksonville being one and done should be considered a success or failure. Colin explains why Trevor Lawrence is a good….but not great quarterback (25:30).
They recap the Bears thrilling victory over the Packers and Colin compares Caleb Williams to a young John Elway, and that the Packers fans calling for Matt Lafleur to be fired are getting over their skis.
They also preview the Bears divisional round game against the Rams and they agree the Bears could very well pull off the upset in front of a raucous home crowd (36:30).
They agree that the Rams look like they peaked six weeks ago, and that their struggles against the Panthers show that they are ripe to be picked off in the playoffs. They also debate what the Panthers should do with Bryce Young going forward (51:00).
Finally, they move to college football & discuss why the era of SEC dominance is over due to NIL(1:02:00).
