0:00.0	The biggest question on our minds after Ellic Murdoch's decision last week to plead guilty to his financial crimes was this. Is this justice?
0:18.0	While Friday's turn of events might be practical, while it might save the state time and money, and might satisfy those who are
0:26.9	sick of the spotlight that Ellick's case has put on the justice system itself. And while
0:32.4	Ellick's sentence might end up setting a
0:34.8	record for white-collar crime in the state I am frankly frightened by the
0:40.4	decision to me it means that Dick's strategy of wearing everyone down was successful.
0:47.8	So what does that say about the system? Obviously, I think it says it hasn't changed one bit. All Dick had to do on
0:56.7	Ellic's behalf is pummel the prosecution in the judiciary and then waited out.
1:03.0	That means that once again someone with means and influence
1:08.0	can for all practical purchases still buy his way out of the worst trouble.
1:15.0	Now, the argument against what I just said is going to be,
1:20.0	well, 27 years is hardly getting out of trouble.
1:24.0	And also, he's serving life sentences for killing Maggie and Paul.
1:28.0	That counts for something, right?
1:30.0	That's the point.
1:32.0	This plea deal, at its core buys Ellick more time and gives him more space to work on getting out of his other charges, the roadside shooting and drug trafficking charges.
1:45.0	Also we don't know yet whether his murder conviction will hold because now Dick
1:51.4	has even more incentive to pressure and persuade the Supreme Court
1:56.4	and individual circuit court judges to see things his way.
2:01.2	It is a big deal and opens up a whole new door for Elic in my opinion.
2:07.6	For now though I am going to celebrate Thanksgiving with my closest friends and family at home in Kansas City.
