Leastokes is the kind of person who seems like she just has more hours in the day than us mere mortals.

She's an assistant professor studying climate politics at UC Santa Barbara,

and last year during the Democratic primary, she did the hard work of breaking down and laying out the various

candidates platforms. At the same time, she was finalizing a book called Short Circuiting Policy, teaching classes

and planting fruit trees.

I just can't even imagine how you have time for this.

I'm everywhere.

I'm annoying myself.

So over-exposed.

I feel like when you take the climate crisis really seriously, which I do, you just feel

this sense of urgency that every minute, every day, every month, every year counts, and so I just work very hard. And now Leah is one of the

co-hosts of a new show called A Matter of Degrees along with Catherine

Wilkinson of Project Drawdown,

an organization that quantifies the largest opportunities

for reducing greenhouse gas emissions globally.

In the episode of theirs that we're going to share with you

is a story that I had honestly considered pitching to my colleagues at

Outside Inn, so when I heard this one it was just too perfect. It was reported by

Julian Brave Noise Cat. He wanted to focus in on the Navajo Nation and this story that he had heard about which is the

transition from coal to solar playing out on the Navajo Nation and it ended up

being almost like a little microcosm for the story of energy

transitions more broadly across the entire country.
