Can Barack Obama top Bill Clinton?

Hello again, I'm Orman Alney, and this is To the Poit from Public Radio International at the Democratic Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina. For almost an hour, the former president had the delegates

on their feet last night mixing details about policy with warnings about a potential Republican

victory. We can't let it happen. It was vintage Clinton, blistering Mitt Romney's Republicans at the same time advocating cooperation.

Reporters, commentators, and delegates all agree he'll be a tough act to follow.

We'll hear excerpts, informed analysis, and predictions of what to expect tonight when the nominee for re-election finally takes the stage.

We'll ask delegates from several states to describe the

matching last night's nominating speech by former President Bill Clinton.

I want to nominate a man who's cool on the outside.

He was just getting underway. That was early on in the speech. You and I both had been to a lot of these conventions. How would you rank that speech last night? It was certainly one of the most memorable convention speeches I've ever heard, right up there with the speech by Mario Cuomo that nominated Bill Clinton 20 years ago in Madison Square Garden, which made the hair on your neck stand up. For me, last night, was especially interesting because I happened to be sitting next to some younger people

who hadn't ever really experienced the full immersion baptism of a Bill Clinton speech.
