The reason someone in, say, the United States should care about someone cooking in Asia or Africa is that we are a globally connected sort of community.

And the behaviours that are happening by us in, say, America or us in Africa, for example, when it comes to greenhouse gas emissions are all connected.

4 billion people lack access to clean and modern cooking products? This issue affects women

and girls in particular who lose around 13 hours per week cooking with wood, which causes

smoke pollution. And it's also tied to almost 4 million deaths per year. This isn't something we

often think of in the West. But guess what? That all impacts our global climate. That's almost

three times more than global deaths from traffic accidents. So think about

that for a moment. Lack of access to clean cooking costs the world economy approximately $2.4 trillion

each year. This adversely impacts and makes our global systems pretty unsafe. It pollutes people's health,
