| 0:00.0 | Hello friends. Welcome back. It is time for the morning mindset. You and I have an opportunity |
| 0:10.1 | right now to get our minds aligned with the truth of God's Word. Today we'll be doing |
| 0:16.3 | that by looking at John chapter 13 verses 6 through 10. And we're going to be looking |
| 0:22.4 | at a very important subject. And that's the subject of being clean before God. Now |
| 0:28.8 | when I say that, I wonder if you think of soap or bath or something like that that's |
| 0:34.1 | somewhat what the context we're reading today is about. But it's really not about that. |
| 0:40.9 | Because Jesus in classic Jesus style is going to use concepts like that to teach us deeper |
| 0:48.3 | spiritual lessons. And so as we get into it today, keep that in mind as we read John 13 |
| 0:54.3 | 9 through 11. Now to set this up, Jesus has just washed the feet of his disciples. Because |
| 1:01.3 | there was no servant in the room to wash their feet. And their feet could have been dirty |
| 1:05.4 | from the road and that kind of thing. It was a very common custom in their day for |
| 1:09.7 | servant to be there. But because there was no servant, Jesus did it himself. And when |
| 1:14.8 | he comes to Simon, Simon Peter, he says this, Simon Peter said to him, Lord, not my feet |
| 1:21.8 | only, but also my hands and my head. Now let's stop for a moment. Jesus had just told |
| 1:27.4 | Simon, if I don't wash you, you have no part in me. And so Simon is kind of going overboard |
| 1:32.9 | as it seems he was kind of prone to do. And he says, Lord, just bathe all of me. I want |
| 1:38.2 | to really be into you. I want to really be your follower. And Jesus replies in verse 10. |
| 1:44.3 | The one who has bathed does not need to wash except for his feet, but is completely |
| 1:49.8 | clean. And you are clean, but not every one of you. For he knew who was to betray him. |
| 1:58.4 | That was why he said, not all of you are clean. So it's that last section that gives us |
| 2:05.2 | the clue that Jesus is not talking about the kind of clean that comes from soap and water. |
| 2:11.9 | He's not talking about the kind of clean that has to do with antibacterial wash that |
