The news has spread today, Sunday, August 12th, 2012 of the passing of Mr. Joe Cubert at the age of 85.

In honor of the man, the legendary creator, we represent our interview we did with him

on November 24, 2005. Okay. And with me here, I have Shane, Kevin, Jamie, and Peter,

and we are the usual crew for Comic Geekpeak, and we welcome you to the show.

Now, Joe, the first question that we always ask everyone, and after I did a little research, I realized that it doesn't exactly apply to you.

And the question is, when did you first start reading comics?

And I guess in your case, it was more comic strips than comics.

Is that correct?

I believe you're right.

Yes, I did read comic books per se really weren't around when I started reading comics.

The first ones, of course, were in the newspapers, yeah.

And what were your favorites?

Oh, gee.

Tarzan, as it was done by Hal Foster, Flash Gordon, as it was done by Alex Raymond, Terry and the Pirates by Kinniff, Dick Tracy, all the stuff that was in the newspapers.

I loved them.

That's great.

And then, I guess, you know, you were, did you read the first Superman as it came out?

Sure I did. I sure did. I remember it distinctly, as a matter of fact.
