Summary

On April 16,1947, the port of Texas City,Texas was destroyed when a ship containing 2,200 tons of ammonium nitrate exploded. The accident killed 581 people and left hundreds more hurt or missing. It is still considered one of the deadliest industrial accidents in world history.
