This is The World. I'm Carolyn Beeler. Thank you so much for joining us today. The Church of England made history today by naming the first woman ever as Archbishop of Canterbury. Sarah Malali will become the spiritual head of the global Anglican church when she's confirmed early next year.

She had been the Bishop of London, and before that, a nurse.

King Charles and the British Prime Minister Kier Starmar both welcomed Malawi's appointment.
