and maybe a year ago during COVID or something like that, John Hoym or Pastor John Hoyum.

And am I right, John's soon-to-be Dr. Hoyum?

Yeah, it depends on how you categorize that with the corrections, which the university

is not even sent to me yet.

So I'm hoping that means they're not serious.

You did defend your dissertation recently at University of Edinburgh?

Defended, yeah, in December at Aberdeen.

Aberdeen, okay, nice.

Very cool.

So it's good to be done, and I have more time for side projects like this, aside from, you know, the normal routine of pastoral ministry.

Yeah, you'd probably sleep in a bit, except on this morning when we get you up early to

record a podcast.

Oh, maybe, maybe.

Anyway, we've been texting back and forth.

Scott and Caleb are traveling as we first were told, and then we learned that maybe they are gliding down a mountain

on the back of a what are they called snowboard so we thought or I mean why I thought Bruce wouldn't

stoop to this level but it might be fun just to make fun of them for 45 minutes.

But Caleb controls all the production and uploading, so it wouldn't hit the airwaves or whatever it's called, the ethers, I think.

Anyway, so we have been texting about what we should do, and there's any number of topics we could do, but we thought that we would have a free-form-ish conversation

on the topic of Christ and culture.

The term comes from a book published, what, early 1950s.
