It's a pleasure to introduce both Jim Breyer and Chris Larson. Jim Breyer is managing director

of Excel Partners and in this role he has led 25 companies through successful IPOs

or acquisitions. He's a great friend of the Stanford Technology Ventures program and each

year we ask him to interview one of his top entrepreneurs in this lecture series.

Last year he brought Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Facebook.

And today he's brought Chris Larson, founder and CEO of Prosper.

Prior to starting Prosper, Chris was the founder and CEO of E-Loan.

In both of these companies, he's worked to democratize the lending process. So, without

further ado, welcome to Jim Breyer and Chris Larson. Thank you very much. This is going to be

very interactive, so I'm cold-call Tom Buyers, I promise. You cannot be doing emails over there, but this should be a lot of fun.

And just a show of hands.

I asked this last year when Mark Zuckerberg was our guest.

We'd invested about six, seven months earlier into Facebook.

How many have heard of prosper.com and actually seen the website?

How many in the audience? How many have borrowed money on prosper.com? How many have been,

how many have participated in the lending process?

All right.

So what I hope is a year from now, the percentage of you who will be really intrigued and active participants in the Prosper Marketplace might look a little bit like what the

activity might be on Facebook a year later.

And so a show of hands, how many of you have actually been on Facebook and are registered

users on Facebook?
